As of the Onslaught set, there are more cards that work with Clerics than work with Knights
You basically steal a creature and never give it back
Late game, when the cheaper spell isn't looking so hot you are far less constrained by mana and far more constrained by nominal power and cards
Lightning Bolt is a fantastic aggro card to pressure your opponent as well as a wonderful control tool to keep your foes away
