With Recycle Energy, the effect has changed because the older version of the card is, at some point, in your discard pile

The strategy is to play Mewtwo in the active slot after you have built up enough energy and then use Gardevoirs Psy Shadow ability to refill Mewtwos energy for Psydrive each round, pulling an extra energy alongside the one you are automatically given every round
