Not only does the card act as a Rest in Peace for almost every type of card you care about hitting, but it also avoids most playable removal and serves as a blocker for any red or black creature
While it might not seem exciting to draw three guaranteed lands a turn, remember that this also thins your deck of land, allowing you to draw more spells than you would have otherwise

Thus, FINAL FANTASY produces an interesting case as a Standard-legal Magic set - it's not powerful enough to where a ton of cards will have a huge impact, but at the same time it's refreshing to have a set introduced to the format that isn't full of cards that would drastically shake things up
