This is all part of a bigger problem relating to too much Magic product being released
One black: You can sacrifice a creature to make all players sacrifice Two generic, one red: You sacrifice an artifact to make all players sacrifice an artifact
Gloomlake Verge, for example, can create blue and black mana once you control an Island or a Swamp, but can only create red mana without either of these colors
You can fill your deck with creatures with potent enter the battlefield effects and some good ways to bounce those cards back to your hand, or just have the most obnoxiously expensive creatures you can find and leave it at that

This is often done by either altering its stat lines, changing its mana value, or making its abilities weaker
