This has led to rather high prices over the years

This enables an infinite damage and infinite lifegain combo

Since you cast cards from your graveyard, its a good way to mix different play styles like self-mill and spellslinger, and it remains very easy to understand and balanced in 1v1 and multiplayer formats

I don't think this card is the powerhouse it used to be in the world, and I wouldn't know where to place this card outside of ramp decks in the current format
