The Amass token can be absurdly big since every time you trigger Amass, there is only one token where the Power/Toughness from Amass goes (minus copying the token)
You don't have to pay it if you don't want
Combustible Gearhulk , Vial Smasher the Fierce , Grab the Prize , and Gray Merchant of Asphodel all deal damage during your turn and not your opponent's turn
No downsides, just pain
I'm NOT providing card-for-card swaps for these, but the general rule of thumb is take out cards that fulfill the same role but worse: take out a land for a land, removal for removal, card draw for card draw, etc
