The frame is clamped and then hand stitched through the wire holes. You can see the stitching along the metal. That extra step is what keeps it truly secure it won't loosen over time. Inside, there are four layers: outer fabric, cotton batting, firm interfacing, and lining. It feels solid when you hold it. Good bounce back. Made to be used every day. The antique brass clasp has a nice weight to it.
