16th Century Florentine Bossolo from Abbey Of Sant’Antimo mastiff Each with individual designA very rare and interesting Italian Bossolo (a chalice that was used as a ballot box by the Priori, the members of the government of the Commune); from Abbey Of SantAntimo, dated MDXLII (1542), depicting 3 different Florentine coats of arms. Inscription around the base reads SENA VETUS VIRGINIS, a reference to the city of Siena (found on 16th century maps), which is 50km from the Abbey. Measures 7. 5 tall x 4 diameter.
