An Egyptian Hematite Set Square Amulet, Late Period, ca. 664 - 332 BCE Scarabs slight smile of the mouthFrom the Twenty sixth Dynasty on, two amulets are almost always found together the carpenter's set square, as seen here, and plummet (see EA2372). The set square takes the form of two often unequal lengths of square rod which meet at a right angle. Most frequently made of dark colored stone, especially hematite in the case of the set square, possession of this amulet would guarantee its owner everlasting rectitude. For a parallel example, see:
