The original cards were released in 1998, and you can clearly see that they are heavily using the original illustrations from that era, which will appeal to the current 30+ sleeper Pokmon fans
If we first look at Standard, we can see there are plenty of spells players want to cast that cost five or more, especially Leyline Binding (which never really costs five), and the enchantment side of Virtue of Persistence
The result of this is obviously that the sets are attracting collectors over and above players, bringing in the people looking to pull the rarest, most interesting art to put in a binder
As good as Traverse is, though, it doesnt see quite as much competitive play as it used to, so putting it here at number five seems appropriate
