What I do believe might finally be plausible is a Persistent Petitioners deck with Bruvac the Grandiloquent at the helm

If you target an uncounterable spell like Abrupt Decay with a Counterspell, the counter simply fizzles and does nothing, similar to when you target an indestructible permanent with something that says destroy. You technically can do it, but it has no effect other than ticking up your storm count

Onslaught wasn't as horrid as I recall either

Also note that the few exceptions always occur on one-shot effects

It has an Amber ink classification and a modest pair of threes for both defense and attack stats
