The lifegain itself is neglectable, but worth mentioning that there is a secret mode on the card if you are low on health - targeting your own creatures for lifegain is an option, and you can use it after blocking a non-trampler

A deck that focuses on ramping up quickly to cast high mana value spells would benefit from including Lurking Lizards, as it provides a steady source of growth through +1/+1 counters with trample
