That's largely because Wizards' teaser points towards the Hive (my favorite Destiny baddie) and specifically Crota, a boss from Destiny 1 (my favorite of the games)
Cycles give Wizards a chance to give the player a wider look into a certain aspect of the world and explain something that would be difficult to do on a single card
If your life total can't change, effects that would replace having you gain life with some other event won't be able to be applied because it's impossible for you to gain life

Ghave does much of the same things, so I don't know which one makes for the better commander, but if you like Saprolings and combos then you have two great options now
